Constance is a mid-early main crop tableware variety, known for its high quality and popularity.

  • It is a high-yielding variety with excellent storage qualities, making it highly suitable for washing and pre-packing.
  • Constance can be grown in most soil types and shows strong resistance to viruses.
  • It is well-suited for baking.
  • This versatile variety has yellow skin and pale yellow flesh, and is characterized by early development after planting, oval-round uniform tubers, and shallow eyes.
  • It is a mid-early variety with excellent heat tolerance.

Harvest and Dormancy

Harvest: Wait at least three weeks after haulm  kill before harvesting, as Constance is sensitive to mechanical damage but resistant to bruising. Avoid applying CIPC (Chlorpropham) during harvest, as the skin is sensitive to chemical damage. If chemical sprout inhibitors are required, a gaseous formulation is recommended.

Storage: Constance has a medium dormancy period and can be stored until March at temperatures of 4–5°C.

Growing Recommendations

  • Certified seed potatoes should be used; seed cutting is not recommended.
  • For seed size 35–45 mm: in-row spacing should be 14–17 cm
  • For seed size 45–55 mm: in-row spacing should be 17–18 cm
  • For seed size 55–60 mm: in-row spacing should be 18–23 cm
  • All equipment should be disinfected before planting
  • Take precautions to avoid mechanical damage
  • Seed tubers should be treated with appropriate products
  • Crop rotation should be taken into consideration
